Resumen
A MODBUS network with frequency inverters was implemented for the Automatic Control and
Manipulation Laboratory of the Faculty of Mechanics. To develop this degree work, a research
was carried out on the MODBUS RS-485 protocol using the master-slave frame. A Siemens S7-
1200 PLC was used as master and Danfoss FC-51, LS IG5A and INVT frequency converters were
used as slaves. The objective of the implementation of this protocol is the transfer of data among
different frequency inverters connected to the same channel. The data transmitted from each of
the frequency inverters to the PLC are the electrical parameters such as voltage, current and
power. A DP Basic color KTP600 HMI screen is installed to display the data of these parameters.
For the assembly and installation of this communication network, a base and structure made of 1
¼ in square aluminum tube was designed and built-in. The module is made up of different types
of elements and equipment such as frequency inverters, PLC, protection elements, and motors.
The software TIA PORTAL V15 will be used for the configuration and programming of the
frequency inverters and the PLC. Once the programming is done, the bus control tests with the
frequency inverters and the readings of the electrical parameters acquired by the bus and those
obtained by the measuring instruments were carried out. It is recommended that great attention
be paid to the preservation and conservation of the module with each of the equipment and
elements installed to guarantee their physical and functional integrity so that they can comply
with their useful life, for which purpose the tasks of the preventive maintenance plan consisting
of cleaning the contacts and devices of the equipment should be carried out.
