Resumen
To design, build and automate a carbon nanotube synthesizer (CNT) by electric arc discharge, suitable engineering methods were applied developing a device capable of generating a valid study nanomaterial for ESPOCH. So, to obtain a machine that meets the synthesis requirements of CNTs, concurrent design was used, in which the point of view of design, functionality, construction and maintenance. In this case. In the bibliographic review, the characteristics of the direct current source, voltage, amperage, distance between electrodes, rotation speed of the anode and tightness under vacuum pressure, necessary for the synthesis of CNT. The second step was the conceptual design, determining the needs of future users: teachers, students and thesis students, with surveys used to carry out a Quality Function Deployment (QFD). As a third point, a functional and modular analysis was carried out to determine the actions required by the synthesizer and select the best alternative to fulfill them; through materialization design, where through the use of bibliography and software such as ANSYS, the mechanical components of the equipment were dimensioned. In the penultimate point, the detailed design is carried out where the plans and the calculation memory are presented. Finally, the CNT synthesizer was built, capable of meeting the necessary synthesis conditions with components generated under mechanical design criteria, obtaining the first CNTs and giving way to new theses such as the implementation of a refrigeration system or more advanced automation.
