Resumen
The following investigation's objective was to determine the optimal dose of coagulant Aluminum Sulfate Type A in the drinking water treatment plant of the Sucúa canton, based on the physical-chemical parameters of turbidity, color, and pH through the use of a jug test. The process began with the collection of 27 simple samples of raw water throughout the project on days previously established, the samples were analyzed at the beginning of each test, taking initial data and then being compared with the results after the application of the doses of Type A Aluminum Sulfate in each of the six jugs of the test, then it proceeded to determine if the treated samples meet the requirements for drinking water set forth in the Ecuadorian Technical Standard INEN 1108 Requirements, Drinking Water. The results were the construction of the coagulant calibration curve with respect to turbidity through the formula y = 0,0728x + 13,589; In conclusion, this treatment will help to optimize the processes of coagulation and flocculation of the water and it will facilitate to the operators of the plant the calculation of the appropriate dose avoiding that there is an overdose or a coagulant deficiency.
