Resumen
This study aimed to analyze the calorific power and the internal properties of SAE 20W50 oil for internal combustion engines used in Riobamba city. The test was carried out during the oil degradation through the simulation and use of a bomb calorimeter. In this way, it provided the opportunity to know and study the behavior of the oil through an investigative study based on SAE standards. It was carried out several surveys among the members of the different taxi cooperatives to collect information, and primarily to know what brand and type of oil they use the most for their vehicles. As a result, it was obtained that the SAE 20W50 oil of the KENDALL brand is the most valued for its vehicles. Relevant samples were collected from three taxis using SAE 20W50 oil every 500 km. And the study of the internal properties of the oil was carried out according to its mileage. The variation of the calorific value of oil was analyzed during the degradation under normal conditions inside the engine, employing the bomb calorimeter and the analysis with laboratory equipment. Finally, the interpretation of the results of the calorific value and internal properties of each sample was carried out. It is concluded that the interpretation and comparison of each of the fundamental internal properties of the oil samples during its degradation, such as the increase in the calorific value of the oil inside the engine, was framed satisfactorily. Well, it was noticed that, when the mileage was increased, it presented a variation in its values concerning its initial nominal value. It is recommended to periodically carry out both predictive and corrective vehicle checks to avoid problems with the operation of the internal combustion engine.
