Resumen
The objective of this research was to design and build a cooling system to improve the work of the tinting tower of the Unit Operations laboratory of the School of Chemical Engineering of ESPOCH. To begin with, the state of the tinner distillation tower was diagnosed and then the cooling system was designed and constructed, complying with the information established in the evaluation carried out by laboratory tests. Two design alternatives were suggested based on the type of environmentally friendly refrigeration, refrigerants 404 and 134 were analyzed, but the former was used. The cooling system has a storage tank or evaporator built with 304 stainless steel, 15 mm copper pipes and aluminum sheets for the condenser. We used a compressor and a ½ hp pump, a hermetic filter, also automatic control paper with a temperature sensor. With the application of this cooling system very acceptable results were obtained. By reducing the temperature in the condensers an increase in the yield in the process was obtained. Before without applying this project three liters of tinner was recovered in a period of time of fithteen hours, but with the application of the system the goal of tripling the savings of tinner in the same time was reached. Finally, the design parameters were appropriate for the efficiency of the tinner distiller equipment. It is recommended to work only with refrigerants 404 and 507, these
have similar characteristics so that the equipment works correctly.
