Resumen
This research proposes: to evaluate the water quality of the Río Blanco using macro aquatic invertebrates employing the Biological Index BMWP conditioning to the ecological characteristics and to the dynamic population of the stretch Padre Carollo-Paus of Rio Blanco in the province of Morona Santiago; freshwater systems are one of the most important natural resources for life, nevertheless these ecosystems have undergone major impacts caused mainly by human activities which directly affect aquatic biota and water quality. In addition physiochemical parameters were measured in situ and biodiversity indexes such as Margalef and Pielou were applied, for this purpose 3 points were identified by carrying out 3 sampling campaigns in rainy periods. For the collection of macroinvertebrates, a "D net" Performing three repetitions at each sampling point. A total of 433 macroinvertebrates distributed in 15 families were recorded. Significant differences were found between the richness of the macroinvertebrates, despite the drag effect of the time there were no differences between sampling campaigns. The biological index BMWP due to its versatility is very useful for the management of water quality allowing a quick and accurate assessment, according to the results of the physicochemical and microbiological analyzes. lt is concluded that anthropogenic activities have a direct influence on the water quality of the microbasin. In general, the Padre Carollo-Paus stretch of the Rio Blanco presents an acceptable quality of water.
