Resumen
This research aimed to determine the presence of Cytomegalovirus and Toxoplasma gondii IgM and IgG, in the children of the García Moreno Elementary School, located in the rural parish of San Jose del Batán, in the Province of Chimborazo. The total population consisted of 200 children; however, the sample covered 137 children who were authorized by their parents, obtaining information through the application of surveys for the statistical analysis. Employing the ELISA method, The techniques Toxo-IgM, Toxox-IgG, CMV- IgM, CMV- IgG for the determination of Toxoplasma gondii and Cytomegalovirus, determining only 1% of seropositivity of T.gondii IgM and 4 % of IgG and a high seronegativity index that corresponds to IgM 99 % and 96 % IgG total. And in the determination of Cytomegalovirus IgM with 12% and 47 % IgG and a high seronegativity index that corresponds to IgM with 88 % and 53 % IgG of the total of the population. In this investigation, there were a minimum number of positive cases of Toxoplasma gondii and Cytomegalovirus with a higher value concerning the previous infection, being a minimal result, but at the same time representative in the conduced study. It is recommended to continue with this investigation since the two types of infection can provoke some unfavorable anomaly in the child through his/her physical, emotional and cognitive development depending on the state of health.
