Resumen
The objective of this research work was to test the adaptability of two varieties and one line of broad bean (Vicia faba L.) in the Pucaraquinche community of the Cacha parish. The varieties used were machete variety, alpargata variety, and an italiana line. For determining their agronomic performance, different variables were measured, such as germination percentage, height every 15 days until 135 days, number of stems, number of pods, number of grains, the weight of grains per pod, per stem, per plant, and days to fruit formation. A randomized complete block design was used, obtaining 9 subplots, 3 for each variety, and tabulated by Tukey at 5%. The italiana line stood out with 1.79 m in height, 5 stems with 5 pods each, 26 pods per plant, 8 grains per pod, 157.6 g of grain per plant, and 79 days to fruit formation. The machete variety is 1.66 m in height, with 3 stems with 5 pods each, 17 pods per plant, 4 grains per pod, 50.12 g in grain per plant, and 88 days to fruit formation. Finally, the variety alpargata with 1.50 m height, 3 stems with 4 pods each, 15 pods per plant, 3 grains per pod, 46 g in grain per plant, and 100 days to fruit formation. Therefore, it is concluded that the italiana line adapted optimally to the climatic and edaphological conditions of the Pucaraquinche community and its use is recommended without discarding the two varieties under study.
