dc.description.abstractThe objective of the research was to develop a plan to enhance the Integrated Transportation Service (ITS) provided by the Empresa Pública Metropolitana de Transporte de Pasajeros (EPMTP), through the generation of strategies that increase, efficiency, safety, sustainability, and inclusion. To promote municipal public transport in Quito means moving towards mobility solutions, considering that 70% of its population uses this type of transport. For its development it was based on the analysis of the results of the Annual Operational Plan, as a reference of the goals and indicators set by the entity and its fulfillment, these served as a contrast to the proposal generated by this research, which suggests a constant measurement that gives added value to the processes and the final result. Subsequently, the situation of the EPMTP entity was diagnosed, in terms of internal and external factors, with emphasis on Technical Management and Operations Management, that provides and executes the service. In addition to bibliographic, documentary, and historical research, a field investigation was carried out. The main results indicate that 39% of the ITS stops have safety deficiencies, while 44% of the stops do not have facilities for people with special abilities. Concerning efficiency among other points, the optimization of spare parts acquisition processes is suggested. The proposal also recommends renewing the fleet with buses that work with clean energy, thus satisfying the current mobility needs without compromising the resources of future generations in compliance with the principle of sustainability. In this context, the plan developed constitutes a tool for continuous improvement of transport, taking advantage of the capacity and experience of the pioneer entity of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in the country and benefiting users.
