This investigation aimed to evaluate the population fluctuation of paratrioza (Bactericera cockerelli) in potato (Solanum tuberosum) and pepper (Capsicum annuum) crops in San Luis and Punín. A nested randomized complete block design was used, and 12 fields established in San Luis and Punín were identified, three for potato and three for pepper respectively, which were chosen at the development stage in order to have similar crops, and compare locations and crops. For the fluctuation of eggs, nymphs and adults, four compound leaves of potato and five leaves of pepper were sampled per plant in development and flowering. Sampling was carried out every 15 days from six potato and six pepper fields, from six randomly selected plants. In pepper, a maximum of 1873 eggs were obtained and a minimum of 342 units. In potato a maximum of 1128 eggs and a minimum of 111 units were recorded, the highest number of nymphs was in the potato crop in pre-flowering and flowering stage with 723 individuals and in pepper in flowering and fruiting stage with only 263 individuals: the highest presence of adults in the potato crop in preflowering and flowering stage with 33 adults and in pepper in flowering and fruiting stage with a maximum of seven individuals. It is concluded that sampling must be carried out, counting both eggs and nymphs in stereoscope, determined the highest presence of eggs 4292, nymphs 2290 and adults 104 in the town of San Luis, the fluctuation both eggs, nymphs and adults are a function of the phenological stage of the plant, phytosanitary applications, and environmental factors. Manual sampling is recommended for eggs and nymphs, and entomological nets for adults.
