Resumen
The following investigation's objective is to evaluate the economic losses caused by
brucelosis in the communities of Chaguarpata and Launag in the Chunchi cantón of
Chimborazo province. Brucelosis being a disease that in cattle is not identified mainly
symptomatology that can be evidenced as many conditions, this cause mainly economic
loss, male bovines are identified infertility it is also considered a vector of transmission
of brucelosis in females. The population was of cattle of the different cattle ranches of the
communities and it was analyzed in their totality, to be able to control in the middle this
type of disease that can be infected, arriving to conclude that the 100% of population of
Launag and Chaguarpata does not know about the problem of bovine brucelosis, so it is
necessary to socialize this type of problems to all its inhabitants for the consequences on
the owners, it identified 4 positive , of which 1 is Launag and 3 in Chaguarpata. The
economic losses in terms of food were $ 1049: $ 1864 $ 1923 $ 1445 for each of the
partners with positive cases giving a total of $ 6281. In the dairy production, losses are
observed in a 305-day lactation of $ 1152, 9; $ 3458.7; $ 4529.25 and $ 3294 for a total
of $ 12434.85. Losses for sale of animals by slaughter were $ 1580 in total of the 4 animals
positive to brucelosis, finally the losses by insemination were $ 80. From the results
presented it is concluded that the economic losses of the farmers for having animals
positive to brucelosis is 17216 USD of which, 1842USD corresponds to the community
of Launag and 15374 USD to the community of Chauarpata, these losses being very high,
affecting the profitability of the farmers since they invested in technical assistance, health
and animal feeding, causing a loss of investment.
