Resumen
The aim of the project was to study the relationship between hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism with dyslipidemia in the populations of Balzacón-Guano and Riobamba. The applied methodology was mixed, non-experimental and cross-sectional. The analysis was performed on 218 inhabitants aged 18 to 70 of urban and rural areas, prior to the study a questionnaire was applied which allowed identifying risk factors, the treatment of the samples began once the required amount of blood was obtained, these samples were analyzed in the clinical laboratory of the Sciences College - Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo, the determination of values of thyroid hormones free triiodothyronine (FT3), free thyroxine (FT4), thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was applied (ELISA), on the other hand, for lipid levels cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL) colorimetric enzymatic analysis was used, these data were entered into the statistical program INFOSTAT where both pathologies were correlated in order to obtain their relationship through the direction of the curve, in addition, the degree of affinity and significance that these possessed with various diseases in relation to the two profiles was observed. The final results showed that 14.56% of the inhabitants that belong to the rural sector and 7.83% from the urban sector presented both pathologies, the correlations indicated that there is a correlation with a value of 1 or a strong correlation between thyroid alterations, the level of significance obtained by means of the Pearson method allowed to ensure the validity of the study. Finally, it was concluded that there was cause and effect between these health problems, making it clear that one directly influenced the other, for this reason, it is recommended to take preventive measures and promote regular medical check-ups to control future complications.
