Resumen
The objective of this research is to design and simulate the behavior of a Pelton turbine for power generation in the highlands of Ecuador, through ANSYS Fluent; the behavior of the fluid in its passage through the blades, speed and pressure for the existing climatic conditions is analyzed, as well as according to the nominal flow obtained by experimentation of 1.13 GPS. The design of the main components of the turbine is carried out, as well as the calculation for the maximum power of electric generation, being 0.75 kW the resulting value. The design of the complementary elements such as the axis, designed for fatigue, as well as the Von Misses criterion is verified, and the calculations are verified by means of static simulation in AutoCAD Mechanical and Inventor. According to the engine rotation speed of 1730 rpm and turbine rotation speed of 900 rpm, the transmission is selected by means of the pulley and belt system, which is adapted to the conditions under which it can be installed. The main result is that the calculated values and the conditions under which the turbine was designed are suitable for the appropriate hydroelectric generation process.
