This paper will address the conceptual
issues related to the operation of power
systems with harmonic content, both its
causes and its effects within the daily
operation in the electric power system
(SEP). For the normal operation of an
electrical power system, different
electrical variables are analyzed, being
one of the most relevant the harmonics of
the system. In that sense, an inadequate
harmonics mitigation can lead the
electrical power system to a collapse,
causing several harmful effects in the
network equipment.
The research work proposes the
development of an application in Matlab
for the calculation of power flows with the
presence of harmonics, based on the
harmonic spectrum that the elements
possess; this allows the implementation of
any non-linear load in the system and to
observe which is the affectation that the
system receives. For the validation of the
program, two test systems are used and a
comparative analysis with the results of
the DIgSILENT PowerFactory software
will be carried out. The first one is the
IEEE 14-bar system subjected to
components that introduce harmonics into
the system in order to test the program;
and the second one is a 2-bar system with
non-linear loads.
