Resumen
The purpose of this research work is to propose a wastewater treatment system effluent of the
Pesillo community, Olmedo parish, this in order to solve the current problem pollution of the water
resource because it is a collective problem due to the fact that other communities downstream use
the same stream of water for irrigation activities, watering holes, etc. In order to know whether the
proposed treatment would be appropriate for the type of wastewater of Pesillo, the biodegradability
index was first determined, of which an average rate of 0.41 was obtained by concisely establishing
that biological treatment by activated sludge proposed in this research is in line with the type of
wastewater to be treated. Being a domestic wastewater to be treated, a composite sampling was
applied for a week getting to know the real characteristics of wastewater, with the analyses
obtained, the PTAR was sized generating the design of the units according to their type of
wastewater, future population and flow. As well as part of the research, laboratory-scale treatability
testing was performed with sludge activated to know sludge rates, to do this, it was aerated for 24
hours to ensure that the system remains aerobic during the test. Thus, the COD parameter will drop
from 1101 mg/L to 117 mg/L. The dimensions of the treatment units were used to design the
general schema of the PTAR for the Pesillo community, the planes display the ingress channel,
screen, grease trap, primary and secondary sedimentator, aerator tank, chlorination tank and the
drying bed.
