Resumen
The aim of this work is to optimize monitoring of a solar energy collection system through an embedded system and solar positioning algorithm (SPA), for this, Python programming language is employed due to its ease of use and its existing libraries for the design of the prototype capable of following the path of the sun for 12 hours a day. The tracker consists of a mobile part that allows to
follow the trajectory of the sun; this is achieved through an embedded system and the algorithm that needs certain parameters to calculate the solar position via real time clock (RTC) and a global position system (GPS) allowing the solar panel to be located perpendicularly to the sun and capturing a better generation of solar energy.
The embedded system works with the Raspbian Pi OS operating system, which is based on Linux, in which it is necessary to enable and configure communication ports to use the components mentioned above. For example, to obtain coordinates such as longitude and latitude, the global position system (GPS) is used, which requires UART communication; Likewise, to obtain time and date, the real time clock (RTC) is used, which uses I2C communication and with this, the necessary parameters are obtained for the operation of the SPA algorithm that will give us the angle of inclination of the sun for a signal to be sent to the DC motor and induce rotation that follows the trajectory of the sun.
