Resumen
Several rural electrification projects in remote areas have been implemented, however dimensioning is a complex task due to meteorological variables and the type of control strategies. This article analyzes the impact of different combinations of energy storage or hybrid storage systems for a small-scale renewable generation system composed of biomass-based generators and/or photovoltaic panels backed by diesel generators, three types of storage technology are considered, lead acid battery, lithium and fuel cells with the help of analysis software for renewable systems in order to check if this hybrid system could be cheaper than a renewable generation system supported by a single storage technology. The charge following (LF)
control strategy and with a single storage technology obtains the best results, the levelized cost of energy is $0.152 dollars, while with Li-ion batteries and the same control strategy the cost per kWh is $0.326
