Resumen
Cultural magazines can be seen as publications in which topics such as art, literature, cinema, among others, are discussed. However, historically, cultural magazines have been part of the development of Latin America on its way to modernization, being a means of communication in which political ideologies, reflections and points of view of the environment were mainly exposed during times of dictatorships and post-dictatorships. Ecuador is no exception to this trend that goes back centuries. In the study of José Villamarín Carrascal "Magazines of Ecuador, a first historical approach", it is known that the appearance of magazines in general in the country dates back to 1870, among them are also those of cultural themes ranging from literary to religious. There are many names that have generated an impact in their time, but the scarce documentation of these has only rescued some of them. The objective of this research is to create a cultural magazine of Guayaquil; for the same reason, it is necessary to know the history of the existing and disappeared ones that marked for their importance at the time and on which the one being created can be based, which also led to a market study; as a conclusion, the bibliographic resources are scarce and it is revealed that the situation of cultural magazines remains the same, they are ephemeral, as well as there is interest in today's society to have cultural content.
