Aluminum alloys have been used very frequently in various sectors of the industry
such as navy, aviation, aerospace, automotive and in matrices for injection molds for
polymeric products, this due to the excellent physical properties of these alloys as
well as their machinability and the cost relatively more accessible in relation to other
metals, but the information related to the machining parameters in aluminum and its
alloys is limited especially in Ecuador. The present research project seeks to
determine the influence of the machining parameters on the surface finish. The
factors that will be taken into account for this analysis are: Cutting speed (Vc),
Advance per revolution (fn) and Depth of cut (ap), using an EMCO CNC lathe model
E200 and an aluminum sample AA 7076- T6 a rolling operation was performed. The
Taguchi statistical method was used to establish the experimental model applying an
orthogonal model L27, establishing parameters that help us obtain optimal surface
finishes and a regression equation for the machining process carried out. According
to this research, the statistically most influential factor in surface quality is the
Advance per revolution (fn), the models analyzed give a roughness of 0.825 μm as
results. After using the optimal machining parameters, an improvement of 4.7% in
the roughness is obtained.
