The road network of the region has been configured over many years, therefore vehicular
traffic has been increasing in all parts of the country, according to the growth of the place,
and that is also the case of "La Cocha" a community that belongs to the parish of
Zumbahua located in the north-central part of the country. The road that connects the
town of "La Cocha" with the main road to Zumbahua is approximately 1.70 km long and
is made of dirt.
Among the priorities of the good life of the people is the communication between
communities that sustains the growth of the same in this case the roads are an
indispensable and substantial element in the social and economic development of a people
so this project is intended to make the improvement of both the geometric layout as well
as the structural of the current road.
We have the support of the Autonomous Provincial Decentralized Government of
Cotopaxi (GADPC) who seeks to collaborate jointly by providing documentation and
studies that they have in exchange for assistance to develop a similar project that can be
implemented in the future. It should be noted that the study of this road involves different
areas of Civil Engineering, such as Topography, Geology, Geotechnics, Soil Mechanics,
Hydrology, Hydraulics, among others, in addition to other disciplines such as Economics,
Environmental Impact, which allow the studies of a road project.
The final design obtained differs in the results adopted by the GADPC because for the
development of a real project there is a limited budget and conditions.
The design of the road improvement was carried out according to current standards and
specifications, so that the road project is kept in optimal conditions during its useful life.
