Resumen
The present study was carried out in the Metropolitan District of Quito, in which Landsat 8 multispectral images obtained vegetation indices (NDVI), constructions (NDBI) and the earth's surface temperature (LST), to establish a relationship between them and thus achieve data about the generation and existence of urban heat islands, in addition to knowing the problems they generate. Obtaining results that indicate a direct relationship between the increase in temperature and the NDBI and on the contrary an inverse relationship with the NDVI. While it was observed that there is no correlation between the temperature obtained from the meteorological stations with that obtained from the satellite images. In general, heat maps show the distribution of the indices and surface temperature throughout the DMQ and how it has been increasing. The research was not carried out with images obtained with drones because mechanical failures in the time of investigation did not make flights with the designated drone, however working with satellite images allows us to obtain similar results.
