Resumen
The present article is a review of the concepts of ferroelectric and piezoelectric materials, as well as the application in
complex compounds such as inorganic-organic hybrids using atomic force microscopy (AFM) and piezoresponse force
microscopy (PFM). Even there are no many reports of these kinds of studies on the biological area, we suggest that the
AFM and PFM techniques could reveal the piezoelectric properties of peptides. Those properties are relevant in prebiotic
reactions and potentially applicable on the design of nanomolecular engines.
