Resumen
The main objective of this article is to determine the effects of the application of corporate social responsibility (CSR) by Capelo's textile SMEs in their sustainable development. To achieve this goal, a theoretical framework was prepared to provide guidance on the proper management of CSR and its effects on the sustainable development of different types of companies, paying special attention to medium and small companies. In order to evaluate in the first instance if the organizations under study carried out an adequate management of the CSR, a survey consisting of 16 closed questions was applied, divided into three sections of analysis: collaborators, environment and society. This instrument was applied to 20 Capelo textile companies, of which 7 were medium and 13 small. Among the results obtained, it was found that most of the SMEs do not maintain an adequate work environment, evidenced by the discontent of the company's employees and the lack of incentives for the personal and professional development of the workers, factors that negatively influence their work performance and productivity. In addition, many of the companies work in harmony with the environment, as they have action plans for the elimination of waste, water and light savings, among others. Additionally, Capelo's textile SMEs do not support social programs or projects in the locality, generating a bad image in front of the inhabitants of the area.
