The editorial communicative product, Juan García: Worker of the historical process of black communities, arises from the line of research UPS, Communication and Interculturality, with the project ‘Ñuca Ecuador’.
Through this booklet, a tribute is paid to the work of one of the greatest references of Afro-descendant culture, Juan García Salazar, as support material bibliographic sources and an interview with the Educator were taken during the 2016 university coverage in the territory emerald.
The text captures biographical data of the Anthropologist and the teachings of the grandparents, whom García mentions in his testimonies as ‘Guardians of knowledge’, because knowledge does not belong to Master Juan, but to thousands of older people forgotten by history.
Responding to the research line of the ‘Ñuca Ecuador’ project, the study is of a qualitative nature with a descriptive approach, ethnographic technique and the History method - life testimonies, using the chronicle as a journalistic genere.
The results were satisfactory for the realization of the issue, it allowed to understand the worldview of the Afro-descendant culture. The material will serve as a guide for the new generations, who show interest in keeping alive the memory, life philosophies transmitted until the last days of Juan García Salazar, ‘El Bambero Mayor’
