The research called: "Methodological strategies of teaching and learning in reading and writing to support deaf people", aims to identify in classroom practices the strategies that teachers use to teach reading and writing to deaf people and propose tactics that allow deaf children in the Ecuadorian context to improve these skills. Literacy is a process that follows specific steps; and the inclusion of people in society depends on their learning. In an educational center for deaf people, lack of interest and boredom in school learning are evident; the docenes use the school texts proposed by the ministry for the teaching process; so learning is based on reading comprehension. The question for the study that is posed is: What are the teaching strategies that benefit the learning of literacy in deaf people? For the investigation, the qualitative methodology was used, with a descriptive scope, supported by research tools such as: observation, survey and field diary. Among the main results, it is highlighted that the didactic supports for learning literacy for deaf people require knowledge of the structure and sign language; and, of the knowledge of the deaf culture. To promote an appropriate teaching-learning environment for deaf people, the teacher must know their linguistic and communicative structure.
