Resumen
The objective is to visibilize the traditional jobs in the Historic Center of Quito (HCQ) and recognize them as part of the historic and social memory of the city, incorporating them in its traditions and identity. The traditional jobs are part of a city famously known as Light of America, have existed since the Colony, and at the same time, they participated in the consolidation of Quito as society and now those are jobs considered as part of the cultural identity, and being part of the commercial dynamics of the city.
Photography is the documentation of acts, realities, stories and people, through it the faces of the people that is behind the traditional jobs will be visibilize, the people that have devoted their lives to them and through their anecdotes and life stories will bring this investigation to life.
As the city was changing and adapting to its new reality, the Historic Center of Quito kept its stories and traditions alive, that is why now a days we can participate in everything that the place has to offer in honor to its history. Communication was a fundamental at the moment of discussing the traditional jobs, due to its contribution to the revalorization of traditions and its input that helps stablish the relationship between the traditional jobs and the construction of the Historic Center of Quito’s identity, taking into consideration its imaginaries and the places and no places of the city.
