Resumen
The present investigation is based on qualitative research, with the aim of collecting and systematizing information about the ancestral knowledge of the indigenous community of Pucará, Pesillo, located in the Cayambe city, belonging to the province of Pichincha, Ecuador.
Through the application of the methodology, action-participation, in the community and using the tools: participant observation, in-depth interview and review of texts or documents. This research finds its main foundation in the relationship between psychology and culture; from a deep cultural contextualization, to understand the actions of the people who exist in this social context.
The most significant results that were obtained after the investigation, have to do with the colonization process that caused really significant cultural changes in the community, modifying the actions and actions of people belonging to indigenous peoples. It is recognized that the most significant changes in the community are linked to the loss of ancestral knowledge, for example: the principle of complementarity regarding gender issues, the principle of relationality in terms of celebrations and the transmission of ancestral knowledge, linked to parenting and family, relegating this aspect of life, exclusively to the western school system.
