Resumen
The purpose of this technical work is proposing the correct design of a steel structure of safe and reliable two-story house, based on the Ecuadorian Construction Standard currently in force, which guarantees the construction of earthquake-resistant buildings, with regulation parameters and technical specifications based on international standards, which guarantee the fulfillment of such purpose.
This document provides the reader with a seismic resistant design proposal for buildings with maximum quality standards, transferred to a two-story house model, based on a previously designed architectural model, in addition to including welding orders for the main and secondary joints. Different alternatives are analyzed so that the design is adaptable to the needs of the future owner of the house, in addition to a correct selection of the hot-rolled profile used by means of AISC 360 criteria, analyzing the availability of the profiles in local suppliers.
Finally, a simulation is performed in ETABS software in order to compare the resulting values manually with the results obtained by the specialized software, thus ensuring the seismic resistant characteristics and load capacity of the structure under dynamic conditions based on the geographical location that implies the geological faults where the tectonic plates intersect, as well as the problem that the country has due to its location in the Pacific Fire Ring. It will not only focus on the structural design but also on the welding design.
