In Ecuador, one of the problems in the national industry is the lack of general knowledge about the 7075-T651 aluminum alloy. This type of material has not been used in the national environment for more than three decades, and distribution companies have a lack of knowledge of the possible applications for this aluminum alloy. Therefore; the following technical project will provide in detail the mechanical characteristics of this material, and will demonstrate the application of the thermal treatments of annealing and tempering of it, with the implementation of different types of tests such as: traction, metallography and hardness. Different data will be obtained and analyzed in order to determine if there is an overall improvement for this material, this way we can determine the possible applications in the industrial environment. For this reason, the 7075-T651 aluminum alloy specimens, submitted to a tempering process of six hours in the oven at a temperature of 120 ° C and then cooled to room temperature, demonstrated that positive as well as negative results were obtained.
