Resumen
In this degree work, the study is detailed of the comparison of the use of access networks with XG-PON and NG-PON2 technology for the city of Quito.
In the first chapter, the specifications are made of the fundamental concepts of the optical communication method for PON networks, a brief review of multiplexing in optical communication systems. Also, It will be described the structure of a PON network.
In the second chapter, It is briefly presented the two phases created by NG-PON, specifying the general parameters for both XG-PON and NG-PON2 technologies, together with the implementation of each simulation scenario of access networks mentioned above, using the OptSim software.
In the third chapter, the best performance scenarios are identified of the XG-POM and NG-PON2 network, through the data obtained in the simulation and their respective comparison of both access technologies. Showing key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Bit Error Rate (BER), Jitter and the transmission quality factor Q.
The fourth chapter details the operation of the Optimal Topology Search (OTS) algorithm, which through data obtained by the OSM program, to find the optimal solutions for the deployment of XG-PON and NGPON2 technologies in the Rumipamba parish and its surroundings, comparing each bandwidth demand scenario for the two technologies. The reference costs are specified that were used by OTS. Finally, the respective conclusions and recommendations are presented that leave the development of this degree work.
