dc.description.abstract | This manual was developed with the purpose of presenting and executing basic
numerical models in the software known as Flow 3D within the virtual laboratories of
Fluid Mechanics and Applied Hydraulics, to complement and reinforce what was
learned in class, the development of the manual covers a theoretical content and an
exemplified práctical part for the handling of the software, besides including some
feedback for the students, in order to mark the characteristics that the software has.
With the handling of the Flow 3D program, the student will be introduced to the
concept of Computational Fluid Dynamics or CFD, and a simple procedure to
represent numerically and graphically the behavior of hydraulic structures.
The hydraulic structures presented in the laboratory manual are: thin and thick wall
orifices, gates with free and submerged discharge, thin and thick wall spillways with
free and submerged discharge, WES type spillway, submerged intake with pressure
conduction and as a complement, hydrostatic pressures on vertical, curved and inclined
walls were added. Each of the mentioned hydraulic structures obtained a práctical
verification as a verification within the Flow 3D software, presenting a consistency in
the results obtained in both ways. | |
