This article presents the implementation of a metaheuristic with which it is tried to locate in the best way the thyristor-controlled series compensation device, because it is one of the most used FACTS today due to its compensation versatility and control of load flows in transmission systems. The study is carried out from the analysis of the power flow before and after the compensation, which will be carried out through the TCSC, where the optimal location of the device will be found through the particle swarm optimization method (PSO) under restrictions and technical limitations that will allow finding the best position to locate the device, guaranteeing the reliability of the system. In this case study the IEEE 39 bar model will be used.
The results obtained after the compensation will be compared with the initial parameters with which it will be possible to verify the improvement in the voltage profile and the minimization of active and reactive power losses at the lowest installation cost in the electrical system.
