Resumen
During the National Strike occurred in Ecuador in October 2019, social networks were
the spaces in which immediate information was disseminated of the events that occurred in the
streets or news that emerged in public institutions; networks became mediators to know what
is real and shaping reality. Facebook is a social network that has a high presence of private
users, institutions and the media, which through their official Fan Pages publish and
disseminate their own content, share or question information created by other users. Static
images are particularly relevant to capture the user's attention in a publication, and thus
generate reactions, comments and in some cases generate traffic to the website of the media or
the institution. The static images published in the Fan Pages analyzed for the present study, the
vast majority of them have a treatment or graphic intervention, suggesting the communicative
intent during the October 2019 National Strike by broadcasters, the government (SECOM), the
traditional media (Ecuador TV) and the alternative or emerging media (Wambra).
