Abstract

Caracteriza de manera muy general la biodiversidad cubana y los principales problemas que enfrenta hoy para lograr su adecuada conservación. Destaca la caza de aves para la venta ilegal sustentada en una tradición anclada en el pasado de mantener aves en cautiverio. La resolución de este problema, por su naturaleza, no es tratada por una sola disciplina científica: requiere un esfuerzo interdisciplinario que no ignore las ciencias sociales. It characterizes in a very general way Cuban biodiversity and the main problems faced today to achieve its proper conservation. It emphasizes the hunting of birds for illegal sale sustained by a tradition anchored in the past of keeping birds in captivity. The resolution of this problem, due to its nature, is not treated by a single scientific discipline: it requires an interdisciplinary effort that does not ignore the social sciences.
