Resumen
Adolescence is a stage that represents a sharp break from childhood and at the same time, as a long road to adulthood. It’s a period of abrupt changes and new experiences, which, despite the obvious differences; within the Costa Rican Healthcare System they’re treated as adults.
The project is conceived due to the evident lack of attention of this population and seeks for the creation of a project that can generate a positive impact and a much more pleasant and comfortable experience inside a hospital, based on the new design paradigms of hospital architecture.
The project seeks to establish an architectural solution, as well as an internal design of the essential areas for the specific attention of the adolescent and young adult population in the country, considering the user and their physical, emotional, psychological and social characteristics.
The project development proposal is approached through four objectives that are developed in six chapters and define the lines of work for the research. The first chapter analizes the theory that supports the investigation, followed by a study of the hospital infrastructure, to know how it operates and the principal aspects to improve. The third chapter studies the user and their specific requirements. In the fourth chapter an analysis of the site where the proposal will be located is carried out, followed by the design proposal and management process in the fifth chapter.
The last chapter presents the conclusions and the recommendations for the approach of the project and some possible future research lines.
