| dc.description.abstract | Today, a relevant topic in the increase in the senior population, in which architecture is one of the disciplines that play a fundamental role. This change in the demographic structure does not occur only in developed countries, Latin America already experiences it and Costa Rica does not exempt itself from suffering this change in its population. This demographic variation in a country generates great economic and social changes.
Through architecture for seniors can solve large unmet needs that have this growing population. These are necessary sites that provide a better quality of life and encourage their permanence in the role of society.
The purpose of this project is the development of an integral day center for the elderly, adapted to the specific needs of the district of Mata de Plátano. However, in order to find its base, a thorough study is needed.
not only for the long-lived population of the locals but of the senior citizens in general, their physical, emotional and psychological capacities; as well as how architecture and spaces influence the greater well-being and personal development of the elderly. | |
