The floristic composition, horizontal structure of the forest, diversity as well as growth, mortality, and recruitment were evaluated in six plots of 0.1 ha in a premontane humid forest and tropical humid forest transition to dry, with three succession stages in Palo Verde National Park, Costa Rica between the years 2015 and 2020. There were greater species richness and individuals in the year 2020. The basal area went from 6.55 m²/ha to 7.05 m²/ha. The importance value index for the top ten species, for 2020 the species Bonellia nervosa (C. Presl) B. Ståhl & Källersjö came out and Semialarium mexicanu (Miers) Mennega enters for the young successional stage, there were no changes in the representation of species in the intermediate stage, while for the mature stage Coccoloba caracasana Meisn came out and Bursera simaruba (L.) Sarg entered as the most abundant species. The Simpson diversity index gives a value of 0.86 for 2015 and 0.85 for 2020, while the Shannon diversity index was 2.5 for both years, the Chao index does not reach the asymptote to demonstrate a good percentage of species sampling. An average value of 0.25 mm/year for the annual current increase, while the mortality and recruitment were 4.45% and 3.78%, respectively. It is concluded that the forest remains in growth due to the increase in the basal area, the dominance and recruitment of species with tolerance heliófitas durables and esciófitas, and due to the mortality of heliófitas efímeras species. Although, it is important to increase the sampling intensity.
