dc.description.abstractFor uniformly hyperbolic diffeomorphisms, the large deviation principle was established in the late 1980s by Takahashi, Orey and Pelikan, Kifer, and Young. For quadratic interval maps, the critical point is a serious obstruction to uniform hyperbolicity.
