Resumen
En nuestro país, Cheilanthoideae con ca. 40 especies, representa la subfamilia de distribución más extendida y con mayor riqueza específica de Pteridaceae. Los helechos cheilantoideos son frecuentes en ambientes áridos y semiáridos. La delimitación de numerosos taxones es difi cultosa debido a que suelen exhibir convergencia en sus rasgos morfológicos, generando controversias taxonómicas y una compleja nomenclatura. Con la finalidad de aportar datos cromosómicos y de tamaño de genoma nuclear que contribuyan a esclarecer la evolución y sistemática de este controvertido grupo, se realizaron recuentos mitóticos mediante técnicas clásicas y se estimó el contenido de ADN mediante citometría de flujo. El nivel de ploidía varió de 2x a 4x. Resultaron diploides los taxones analizados de diantopsis (2n=2x=60) y Argyrochosma (2n=2x=54). Mientras que las especies estudiadas de Cheilanthes, Doryopteris, Gaga, Myriopteris y Pellaea presentaronvariaciones en los niveles de ploidía (2x, 3x y 4x). El valor 2C en especies de Adiantopsis, Argyrochosma, Cheilanthes, Doryopteris, Gaga, Myriopteris y estrolepis varió entre 9,64 (2x) a 22,69 pg. (3x). De los resultados obtenidos se infiere que existen diferencias significativas en el valor 2C entre especiesde diferentes géneros. En general, se observa una correlación positiva entre el nivel de ploidía y el contenido de ADN en especies cogenéricas. Los datos cromosómicos y los de contenido de ADN obtenidos representan nuevos registros para la subfamilia Cheilanthoideae, siendo esenciales para futuros estudios taxonómicos y evolutivos.
