Resumen
La disputa científico-tecnológica actual por la supremacía entre Estados Unidos y la República Popular China (RPCh), o la carrera de los países por encontrar una vacuna contra el SARS-CoV-2 que azota al planeta desde finales del año 2019, son dos ejemplos que evidencian la centralidad de la ciencia y la tecnología (CyT), no solo para la vida humana sino como componentes clave del poder de los Estados. En este sentido, los analistas de las relaciones internacionales han considerado a la CyT como un componente clave tanto del hard power como del soft power de los Estados. Pero a pesar de ser uno de los factores de poder más relevantes en las relaciones políticas y económicas internacionales, y una variable clave para entender la correlación de fuerzas de poder entre los Estados, la CyT no es una temática central de la disciplina de relaciones internacionales. Frente a la insuficiencia de análisis que vinculen los campos de estudio de la CyT y las relaciones internacionales, este capítulo aborda ?desde un enfoque institucional- la convergencia entre cooperación científico-tecnológica internacional y política exterior, realizando una aproximación al tema con la intención de profundizarlo en futuras investigaciones.
