Resumen
La crítica inmanente de la modernidad del capital supone, sostendré, una especial y renovada atención a la especificidad histórica de la sociedad capitalista, comprendida como el marco social en cuyo seno la teoría crítica cobra sentido y validez. Esta forma de teoría reúne dimensiones normativas y descriptivas, constituyendo un análisis del capitalismo con una explícita intencionalidad emancipatoria. La teoría crítica puede formularse entonces como una teoría históricamente autorreflexiva sobre la contradicción entre las formas opresivas y las potencialidades liberadoras en la modernidad del capital.
