Resumen
Cada vez que los humanos se desplazan por el mundo son acompañadas por profundos cambios en la geografía de animales y plantas: no sólo en el sentido clásico (animales domesticados, cereales y otros) sino en lo referente a las especies marinas que, adosadas a cascos de barcos o a su lastre circulan y se desplazan mundialmente. Este movimiento de especies es capaz de generar una variedad de problemas e impactos sobre la biodiversidad nativa, las sociedades y sus economías.En el marco de un proyecto interdisciplinario entre ciencias de la naturaleza y la sociedad, se abordará a la historia oceánica como un espacio de articulación de relaciones sociales y circulación de personas, con incidencia en la introducción y dispersión de especies. La propuesta vincula al pasado marítimo y continental de la región patagónica y del Atlántico Sur con los procesos de mundialización de las relaciones sociales, políticas y económicas características del siglo XIX y de principios del siglo XX. A partir de ello, se plantea construir una historia de la conectividad marítima que contribuya al conocimiento del movimiento global de las especies por el Atlántico Sur, el litoral patagónico y las islas australes. Se apunta a contribuir a una historia biológica a la vez que social que desborde los límites nacionales, y redefina a la región en contextos globales.
