This chapter analyzes the palaeoenvironments of the sedimentary strata cropping out on the coastal sector of the Reserva de Vida Silvestre San Pablo de Valdés (RSPV) over the Punta Alt area. It also studies the palaeobiodiversity along with palaeoecological and palaeobiogeographic aspects of the fossil organisms, with emphasis on certain groups of xenarthrans, South American autochthonous mammals, such as glyptodonts (Glyptodontidae), pampatheres (Pampatheriidae) and sloths (Pilosa or Tardigrada). In addition, based on the fossil content and the characteristics of the sediments, it is inferred that the landscape in the RSPV zone (Punta Alt) during the late Miocene, about nine million years before the present, was a coastal plain with rivers running into estuaries open to the Atlantic Ocean. Legal aspects related to the paleontological patrimony of Chubut are included, particularly the Provincial Law XI – No. 11 (before Law 3559), whose enforcement authority is the Ministry of Culture. Finally, environmental conservation by the RSPV and fossil abundance in the area of Punta Alt are thought of as an excellent opportunity to implement educational programs regarding environmental issues, which should also include the interpretation and conservation of the geological and paleontological patrimony
