Abstract
Everything indicates that we are being witness to the beginning of a second period of becoming worldwide, whose components will be not only economic, but also encompass civilization, culture and citizenship. Multiple signs —political, social, and cultural—announce it. This reflection is based on the reasoning that the polarized debate around globalism will only be overcome by creating strategies and alternative projects that take into account the integrative, internationalist and universalist vocation of Western history, in which Latin America has historically played a fundamental role.
