Hermes. Representación y atribuciones del arquetipo

Abstract

El objeto de estudio que se aborda son las representaciones y atribuciones de Hermes como dios que, a través del giro de sus origenes paganos, llega a consolidarse como arquetipo de lo profano y de la transmutación alquímica. Los arquetipos producen ciertas formas que se pueden dilucidar, lo que hace necesario identificar cómo y dónde se puede conseguir el material probatorio de esas formas. Tomando a Jung (2002), el material probatorio para demostrar al arquetipo es por medio de imágenes. Los objetos naturales y las cosas hechas por el ser humano pueden asumir una significancia simbólica. El símbolo es la representación de un objeto del mundo conocido, sugiriendo un contenido mental que aún no se conoce y coadyuva al sujeto a dar sentido a su realidad.

The object of study that is approached are the representations and attributions of Hermes as a god who, through the turn of his pagan origins, becomes consolidated as the archetype of the profane and of alchemical transmutation. Archetypes produce certain shapes that can be elucidated, making it necessary to identify how and where evidence for those shapes can be obtained. Taking Jung (2002), the probative material with which the archetype can be demonstrated is through images. Natural objects and human-made things can assume symbolic significance. The symbol is the representation of an object from the known world suggesting a mental content that is not yet known and helps the subject to make sense of its reality.
