The gender wage gap is a phenomenon that is present in the Colombian labor market, which is strongly determined by the sector analyzed. Therefore, a detailed analysis of what happens in the public sector is relevant, especially if it takes into account that it is the State who has the obligation of ensuring gender equality. It is important to bear in mind that the wage gap cannot be totally attributed to discrimination, since there are specific characteristics of the individuals that explain this phenomenon. To identify the factors that explain this gap, "mincerian" income equations by sex are estimated, followed by the correction of selection bias through the Heckman method and also used for the uninstallation of Blinder-Oaxaca, for the years elapsed from 2002 to 2016, based on data from the Continuous Household Survey (ECH, For the acronym in Spanish) and the Large Integrated Household Survey (GEIH, For the acronym in Spanish). The results suggest that labor discrimination in the hiring of the sector is lower compared to other sectors, and this is largely determined by the role traditionally assigned to women, as a manifestation of statistical discrimination
