Resumen
The aim of this work was to adjust, evaluate and select taper functions for five
species commercially exploited in the Amazon forest of Mato Grosso. The study
was conducted in forest management units in areas of the Amazon Forest,
located in Santa Carmen, state of Mato Grosso. To adjust the taper functions
were rigorously scaled 449 trees of five forest species. Goupia glabra, Qualea
albiflora; Trattinnickia burseraefolia; Erisma uncinatam and Mezilaurus itauba.
Adjusted models were not segmented of Kozak, Fifth Grade, Hradetzky and
Demaerschalk adapted the model and segmented Max & Burkhart. To evaluate
the accuracy of the adjustments was used determination coefficient, standard
error of estimate in percentage and graphical analysis of the waste, beyond the
calculation of auxiliary statistics: deviation, standard deviation of differences,
sum of squared residuals and relative percent residue. The model fitting is not
segmented Demaerschalk are adapted to more accurate estimates of the
diameters and volumes for five tree species studied in the Amazon region of
Mato Grosso. The settings for the segmented model of Max & Burkhart are the
least accurate estimates for the diameters and volumes for the species Goupia
glabra, Trattinnickia burseraefolia e Mezilaurus itauba and for all these, while
the template presents the lowest Kozak accuracy for the species Erisma
uncinatam and Mezilaurus itauba. The adjustments are more satisfactory class
diameter compared with the absence of the control class, while the larger bias
in the estimation of the diameter and volume occurs in the upper portion of the
stem.
