Resumen
The advancement of scientific and technological productions after the industrial era
provides, every day, improvements in the standard of living of society. On the other
hand, such growth, directly and indirectly, has contributed to the increase in the
emission of atmospheric polluting gases, such as greenhouse gases (GHG).
Therefore, the relevance of the development of effective technologies is observed in
an attempt to mitigate the side effects of these gases. The objective of the present
study was to develop zeolite powders type MFI, silicalite-1 and ZSM-5, with and without
the use of organic structure drivers, via sol-gel route, for carbon dioxide adsorption.
Three methodologies were applied for the synthesis of powders; one for silicalite-1,
with variations in crystallization time and temperature, and two for zeolite ZSM-5, with
different structure directing agents (SDA). X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyzes confirmed
the presence of crystalline structures of the MFI zeolite in all samples. In light of those
obtained in the synthesis of ZSM-5 with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), the
influence of the crystallization time on the formed structure was noted, with the 120htime
being the most satisfactory. The XRD result was confirmed by Fourier transform
infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), through the identification of the 550 and 450cm-1 bands,
which are characteristic of the material. Although the adsorptive capacities of
commercial materials are still superior to those synthesized in this work, the zeolites
submitted to the CO2 adsorption test showed considerable and promising results.
