Resumen
The present research aimed to know the understanding of students of a rural school in the search for an understanding of the complex relation between the riparian forest and the water course, mediated by environmental education and its importance for the change of attitude regarding the context of the rivers and its conjuncture. For the conclusion of the results of this study, questionnaires were carried out. Twenty - two (22) students from EMEF Osvaldo Aranha, a rural school in the municipality of Encantado - RS, participated in the questionnaires. Through the answers of the questionnaires, it was possible to reach their knowledge about Environmental Education. It was verified that some of the students of the EMEF Osvaldo Aranha do not have the environmental perception necessary to change their attitude towards the environmental problems detected, and a constant approach is essential to effectively change behavior. Thus two environmental education actions were proposed. To verify the influence generated by the practice of the planting of native tree seedlings for the conservation of water resources and biodiversity in the students, an action taken in July 2018, which showed that the students were able to assimilate new knowledge about the real functions of the forest ciliary and brook, as fundamental elements for the maintenance of life. And produce a theatrical play as an instrument to assist the development of significant knowledge in environmental education from the students. The play reproduced the thoughts and understanding of each student on the topic worked, and how methodology can be considered as a pleasurable activity in which it is possible to perceive the satisfaction of the students in also transmitting an awareness about what they reflected and learned. Theater has proved to be an effective environmental education tool for its potential in educating, entertaining. However, such actions should be continually worked on in school so that they can become part of the reality of these students, believing that a new worldview is still possible through permanent work in environmental education.
