Resumen
This study aimed to analyze the limits and possibilities of democratic school
management triggers to improve the quality of education in a Citizen School. The
research was characterized as exploratory qualitative, in which a director and four
teachers from a school of the school city of Constantina (RS) responded to
semistructured interviews. These were transcribed and analyzed approaching the
content analysis. The proposed Public School was considered a major breakthrough
for improving the quality of education, because it is an innovative proposal and
challenging for both managers, teachers, students and the general community, and
brings the approach and the participation of the surroundings. Therefore,
understanding of citizenship part of a right of every human being has, and he must
be able and aware of their rights to exercise their citizenship conditional upon the
power to participate in society on the insertion in social practices involving their
school learning as democratic formation.
